The material is soft denim and the waistband a more sweatshirt-like material, which will be more comfortable on the waist. Runs big
These are really cute shorts! They are a bit big on my daughter though. I wish the tie was actually functional and I could tighten them. I love that they have pockets and they aren't super short like most shorts today. The material is soft and comfortable. My daughter can wear them by folding the waist down for now. They are great shorts and I love them, just keep in mind they may be a bit big. For reference, my 8 year old is 4 ft 2 inches and weighs 65 lbs.

Wish there was a way to adjust the waist
I ordered these shorts in the “medium chambray” color in “size 8-10” for my slim 10 yr old. She usually wears size 10 in Old Navy and Cat & Jack brand clothing. They definitely fit her BIG! She tucked her shirt into them to keep them from sliding down on her hips. The elastic waist is made for a child that has more tummy or thicker midsection. If your child is tall and skinny, then these probably won’t work. Besides the fit issue, the shorts are very cute, lightweight, and comfortable. My daughter doesn’t like wearing restrictive jean shorts, so these are a nice alternative. They are a nice quality chambray and the length is great! Not shorty shorts, but not Bermuda length either- just right! I’m hoping I can shrink these a bit in the wash so she can wear them on an upcoming vacation.

Very comfortable
I have a very picky child in regards to clothing. She’s very easily bothered by tags and can’t have anything even slightly tight. These are great. She’s quite slender, so they are a bit big. They are amazingly soft and easy to move in. I’ll more than likely order more.

True to Size SOFT Denim
My daughter hates denim because it is usually tight. However, she loves these because the material is soft, pliable, and lightweight. The waist band is like that on a pair of sweatpants. These are not confining like a normal pair of jean shorts and fit like athletic shorts more or less. I found that these ran true to size. I bought the 7/8 for my 7-year-old. She's 4 feet tall and 55 pounds. She has lots of room for growing given the generous and stretchy waistband.

Lightweight, true to size shorts.
These shorts have an elastic waistband for comfort, and they are lightweight for the hot days here. I know these will last a good while, and I recommend them.

Great Pull on Short
Fantastic Pull on Light Weight Shorts! Denim Color - not Denim material. Pull on with pockets is a giant win for my daughter. matches everything - super soft and comfy. can basically wear with anything. These are great.
