I usually don't take the time to write product reviews, but I wanted to make an exception for this item. Note that this review is not for this particular purchase...I've only had this vacuum for a couple of weeks. However, this is the 3rd identical (or nearly identical) Bissel vacuum that I have purchased. I didn't buy 3 vacuum cleaners because these keep breaking; I bought them so that I could have one in each major area of the house in which they have to be used - as replacements for another brand that didn't perform well. So without going into the lengthy details of my history with these vacuums, let me just say that I own two, large indoor dogs - one of which is a 90# German Shepherd. I love that dog dearly - but she makes me pay for it by way of her shedding. I have been very happy with the performance of the Bissel vacuums in handling the dog hair - and we're probably vacuuming a 1500 ft2 main floor area twice a week (in addition to other areas that are touched less frequently). I especially like the features of this vacuum that make it easy to break down/disassemble if you do get a blockage in the hose. Having said that, you shouldn't expect to get a blockage doing normal interior vacuuming...I've not had that experience. But there are times when I even use this vacuum on "outside" surfaces - and I do occasionally get a blockage when I'm picking up leaves or other debris in the garage. In addition, the vacuum seems to be built sturdy enough that I can readily pick it up and move it around using the canister handle - which is very handy in some of ways that I'm using it.

Powerful

I love this vaccum cleaner, i bought it November 2022. I have 9 cats and take care of dogs. I love the rewind, keeps my cats from chewing on the cord. My last Bissell purchased here on Amazon, in 2015....i abused that vaccum, fell down the stairs numerous times. That poor thing still worked when i had to put it out to trash. It was hard to part with. I never had to replace a belt in all the years i had it. My cats are the reason, i kept shocking myself holding on to the cord. I now own 2 new Bissells. I wanted to buy another one of this one. Its 40 bucks higher now. This one is extremely easy to use and is fairly lightweight. Works great on my rugs and hardwood floors. I've had such good luck with Bissells, other brands, not so much. I will stick with them. Mothers day Bissell.com will be having sales. Thats where i got my other one last mother's day.

Very happy

This was an upgrade purchase for me from my old 8 year old vacuum. I compared two similar items for a while but ultimately decided on this piece… and I’m glad I did. I read the reviews before purchase but I have no complaints so far. I love the auto return cord feature and the reach bar. Sucks very well and is excellent on dog hair. I can’t believe how much extra gunk it picks up with each vacuum. I vacuum at least once a week and I can’t believe how much is tracked through the house in such a short time!!

The very BEST vacuum I've ever used!

This vacuum is lightweight, VERY maneuverable, and has the best suction of any I've owned in over 20 years - REALLY! I used my older Hoover vacuum (which I thought was a good one - but very heavy) on our living room before cleaning it for a donation. Then I went right back over the living room again and this Bissell removed twice as much as the older Hoover had! The handle is easy to remove for out-of-reach corners or cobwebs above your head. The suction is amazing, and cleanup of the unit is ridiculously easy. As a man in my retiring years, I really love this vacuum for its lightweight and overall ease of use. We even bought a second one for our grandson when he recently got married. He loves his as well. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner for anyone looking for one that REALLY works so well its almost impossible to describe. I think anyone buying one of these Bissell vacuum cleaners will be as pleased as I am.

No shut off for brush roll

I’ve only used it a few times and it has worked well on our thick rug, low rug, and hard floors. It’s great on the floor, however, when using the wand and brush there is no way to turn off the brush roll to the floor so it just runs the whole time. I had cleaning to do where the vacuum had to be sitting on the rug to reach with the wand… a good way to wear out both your rug/carpet as well as the vacuum. In addition, while using the pet brush hair was flying back out of the vacuum where the hose was disconnected, I checked and I was using it properly… hoping that was a fluke but I’m afraid to try it again and now i have staticky cat hair stuck all over the outside of my brand new appliance. That said, the suction is good so far and the replacement filters… assuming I’m ordering the right ones (it does not give you a part number in the guide!) are cheap. Pros: -good on high pike, low pike, and hard floors -large capacity dust tank -minimal tangling on the brush roll! -good suction Cons: -can’t turn off brush roll when using the wand -pet brush turns off if pressure is applied at all -hair flying out of vacuum while using pet brush

Great. Period

We have a dog and some area rugs, so nothing terribly difficult or out of the ordinary in terms of cleaning needs. However we haven’t had a vacuum in forever and we finally broke down to get one. What a difference it makes! I had forgotten how easy it is to clean all sorts of nooks and crannies. While the attachments are not abundant (only two different changeable heads) they are sufficient to get most jobs done. The cord is very long and the unit is generally maneuverable and not too heavy. Highly recommend.

Clean home

I have two dogs and they are shedding very bad. I have the other vacuum before this and it wasn't clean my house very well. So I bought this and tried it and I absolutely love it. I don't need to worry about the dog hair everywhere and not get pick up on the rug. I just wish the size of vacuum is a little bit compact.
