Lovely essence, but beware if allergic to ragweed, goldenrod or others in Asteraceae family

For reference, I have combo-to-oily skin that is old enough to have fine lines and some wrinkles. Belif's The True Tincture Chamomile Essence is really a gorgeous product. It comes in a golden colored glass apothecary bottle with a stopper and looks quite old-fashioned in a charming way. The star and namesake ingredient is actually the first thing in the ingredient list, comprising 93% of the formula. You are definitely getting what's being advertised and in its best form for cosmetic use and delivering hydration and skin calming. The formula is rounded out with a few other moisturizing ingredients, anti-oxidants and skin soothers but together they amount to 7% so don't get too excited about any of those. Belif also includes what appears to be its omnipresent mix of skin-sensitizing fragrant essential oils at the tail end of the ingredients list--citronellol, citral, geraniol, limonene and linalool. It gives the product the signature belif scent of citrus, grasses, pine and lavender. It's a nice earthy fragrance but can be problematic for sensitive skin types. You shake a few drops into your hand, warm the essence between your palms and pat it on your face. This bottle will last you quite a long time as it only takes about 3 drops to do your face and your neck. The essence is slightly thicker than water. Feels nice going on and absorbs well. It is hydrating. If you do not suffer from hayfever, you will probably love The True Tincture Chamomile Essence! Here's my problem and I wanted to warn others: If you are allergic to things in the daisy (Asteraceae) family, you may be allergic to this! I couldn't figure out why my face turned beet red every time I used The True Tincture Chamomile Essence. It felt so lovely going on, and then within minutes my face would turn deep red and burn for about an hour. I started researching the ingredients and learned about possible allergic reactions to Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract (the main ingredient of this essence) in people who are allergic to things in the daisy family like goldenrod and ragweed, both of which I'm quite allergic to. We're already in ragweed season in my area. I think I'm going to put this essence aside and try it again in the winter to see if I can better tolerate it then, when there is no ragweed or goldenrod pollen in the air. If you have hayfever or allergies to other plants in the daisy family, do a patch test with this first in case you have an allergic reaction.

soothing, calming, hydrating; a lovely pamper worthy product

I am used to using hydrating toners and essences. I follow the "7 Skins" method of patting on layers of hydrating toner (ie "skin" ) until my skin feels saturated with hydration. I had been trying some other products recently and had gotten away from the hydrating toners for a week or so. When it was time to try this, I went ahead and applied it like I normally would a toner. I shake a few drop into my hand then pat it all over face. Let absorb then do it again (and again and again, if need be). My skin just seemed to sigh in relief upon patting this in. For ME, it is SO lovely. My skin just lapped it up, and was feeling plump with hydration and calmness. So soothing. I've just been adding 2 skins (layers of this essence) as it seems to be so silky and moist on my skin. I don't need much to pat on, and I don't need to add more than 2 layers. So it is pricey, but the effectiveness in a small amount may offset it a bit. My skin: mid 40s, leans dry, long time Rosacea (non acne, just redness and visible veins). Not sensitive, but that is because I work on it through building and maintaining a good skin barrier (sensitive, easily irritated skin, bumps, itchiness are some signs that barrier needs help). Loves K-beauty, especially toners, serums, and SPF. I follow up with their Nourishing Essence for Dry Skin, which is a creamy serum. Then after that lock it all in with a thicker moisturizer. I have been using this at night, but I think it would be fantastic for morning ritual. It is currently still summer (and hot and humid) so I haven't needed as much moisturization during the day and still not much at night. I will continue with this at night or I will wait until the weather changes and use it for my day time routine. The expiration date are a ways off so I can do that without concern. ALSO, the bottles are great. This is an amber glass bottle with a secure lid and a shaker style opening. It's fresh! 5 stars because this feels divine on my face. As I continue with it, if I learn anything new or experience anything else I will come back to update.

Replenishes, hydrates & revitalizes.

I absolutely love so many of Belif's products that I didn't hesitate to try their True Tincture Chamomile Essence Serum. The bottle looks beautifully old school like something my grandfather kept in his medicine cabinets or on top of his dresser drawer. The scent is similar to an experience on a nature walks, soothing & pleasant. The bottle works similar to men's cologne where you shake out a few drops and rub on your palm before patting your face. The skin absobs it nicely giving you a feel of revitalization & long lasting hydration. After putting this on, I don't feel I need to add anything more to my skin. I don't wear makeup or put anything on my face. However as I get older my skin isn't as hydrated as it used to be and dries out quicker. The Belif serum replenishes the lost plumpness which makes me feel more confident. The product's description states they use a patented technique of purifying toxins from organic herbs without destroying any active ingredients, when applying to your skin it supports the skins blood flow nourishing dull skin and bring life to it. Due to how little you need to cover your face & neck, the product should last long enough to be worth the pricey tag. I don't have any allergies or any skin conditions that would make me fear using the product. However those that do, be sure to read the ingredients list to protect your skin. Makes a great gift as well.
