Just perfect!
These are absolutely the best yard/barn work boots EVER! They fit perfectly and the easy on/ easy off make them ideal. Every day I love them more. That said, when they're new, the neck is very stiff. Took about two weeks to break them in. I just left the zipper a bit unzipped to adjust. After some wear, I could zip them a bit more. Now, after a month, they're nothing short of heaven. Just get them! I will never be satisfied with another boot!

Seem to be a good quality and fit as stated. Holding up to barn duties so far.

Quality has gone down
I am getting ready to order my third pair of these boots. However, I have to say, I believe the quality of craftsmanship has gone down. My first pair lasted 3 years. The zipper broke and it was cheaper to buy a new pair than to get it repaired. The pair I have now was purchased in April 2021. 1 yr and 7 months later they are coming apart at the seams. The stitching on both boots around the toe area has come undone. Knowing how long my first pair lasted I'm hoping I just got a bad pair the last time. I'm going to give them another try and I hope they hold up better.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE These Boots BUT.....
These boots are thoughtfully designed by someone who has spent a lot of time working in a barn. They are, in fact, my dream barn boots! They are easy on/off, provide excellent protection against stomping horse feet (less, maybe, than construction work boots but good enough unless your are spending your entire day working with fractious stallions and/or youngsters), reasonably light weight, with excellent oiled leather and sole construction for fast breaking in and some measure of water/mud resistance. The collar on the top of the boot is very stiff to start with but you can soften it a bit by flexing with your hands. The boots are comfortable with the zipper pulled pulled to just below the collar. After a week, I found I could even walk comfortably for short distances with the zippers undone. This is nirvana since the barn is only a little more than 100 feet from my kitchen door. I'm constantly back and forth all day and HATE to fuss with barn shoes. For doing chores like cleaning stalls, turning horses out or feeding, it's no biggie to lean down and pull the zippers up. BUT... Quality control sucks. This is why you're seeing so many different opinion about the fit. The first pair of these boots arrived and fit absolutely perfectly. I'm a 9 1/2 medium but require a wide toe box due to an old metatarsal injury. The fit was close without being tight. The insole in the foot bed was good but not perfect for my particular needs. There was just enough room to add another thin insert for a perfect correction. However, there was thread knot (from a badly finished seam) on the collar of the boot next to the top of the zipper. The knot pressed so deeply into the skin above my ankle, it left a bruise after the first wearing. Fortunately, Amazon's return/exchange program is painless so I opted to try another pair. This pair did not have the knot. Yippee!! However, the fit was just a little bit roomier. Not a wrong size. Just a roomier fit. The footbed also fit differently. Fortunately for me, this time it was perfect!! so no additional inserts required. My foot didn't move around at all in the roomier boot and there was additional space for heavy socks in the winter. A note on socks. I'm not a foot sweat-er, but my feet did sweat wearing these boots with thin nylon socks. However, I was OK in thin cotton socks and should be fine in heavier wicking winter socks when the time comes. Interestingly, the inside of the boot is well enough finished (if you don't get a pair with a thread knot) that they are comfortable (and sweat free) enough for bare feet. I've only had the boots for a few weeks but am already wondering how I survived without them. As beloved as they are, I still would have given the boots 4 1/2 stars, if possible, due to the uneven quality assurance.

Great shoes, but don't try to return them
I bought these boots, loved them and wore them mostly to walk my dog in the woods. No barn heavy work. But after only 7 seven weeks the zipper broke and the zipper fabric tore making them unwearable. These are supposed to be work boots are they not? For $144 I expected them to last a bit longer than that! So all I really wanted was to have the zipper fixed, but I wasn't going to spend more money to have it fixed by at the shoe repair (which in hindsight might have been a better solution). I wanted Ariat or McConnell's (who supplies these shoes to Amazon) to know about the problem/defect and to suggest a solution. But, the only solution when you buy via Amazon is to make a return. So I wrote a letter to McConnell's outlining the problem and that I would like my actual shoes fixed if possible. McConnell's decided to replace them even though the boots had significant wear. Thank you, McConnells. But here's the catch, there's a $115 restocking fee for returning these boots. Crazy, right? So if I had returned these boots and not gotten a replacement pair gratis, my refund would only have been $23. Read the fine print and the return policy carefully before you buy!!

Stiff & Bulky Feel
Really stiff with bulky feel with some internal rubbing of inner seams.

Average quality boot
I love my older Ariats and thought I’d give these a try. Definitely not the high quality shoe one would expect from Ariat. I’ll pay a little more for better quality with a different brand.

Super comfy yard boots!
These boots are amazing! They are literally THE most comfortable boots I have ever owned! I am a regular Ariat customer as the quality of their products is always superb - and these boots are no exception. They have a lovely padded ankle, so you don't have to wear longer socks unless you wish to. They were comfortable from the minute I put them on and the quality of the zips, leather upper and tread of the sole are faultless. Dispatch and delivery from Houghton Country was spot on and they arrived when they were expected to, so I'd definitely shop with them again through Amazon. I am living in these boots, I wear them for the yard and walking the dog. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for a comfortable yard / riding / walking boot with no hesitation.

Great fit but NOT waterproof! [Update: now seams are coming apart]
UPDATE: Feb., 2018. I've changed the star rating from 4 to 3 stars and I'm now on the hunt for some new boots. These lasted about a year and then the seams around the toes on both shoes (big toe side and baby toe side) in the leather upper started coming apart. I wore them every day in winter 2016-spring 2017 walking my dog a couple of kilometers per day on roads and easy hiking trails. Back to the boots in fall 2017, which is about when the seams started coming apart. The right boot also developed a funny doinggg noise - something to do with metal in the sole? Not very loud but makes me wonder what's going on. I'm disappointed these didn't last longer for the price! They are still very comfortable and my high arches still love these boots. I will keep them for dry days as long as they hold up but I'm tired of wet feet this winter. Unfortunately I won't be buying these again. I'm not sure I'd buy any other Ariats either. Boo. I thought I'd found a blundstone replacement but nope. ***** I walk a lot and wanted a boot like Blundstones, which don't seem to offer enough support for my arches. I have high arches and get plantar fasciitis frequently. These boots give great support and feel very comfortable. My bad foot feels great after 2 weeks walking in them. I purchased my exact size = 9.5 (usually I have to buy a 10 because that's the only option) and they fit great, though I do wear thicker socks with them. They seem very well made and I've had lots of compliments on them. HOWEVER, I am very disappointed that they are not waterproof at all. Walking through long dewy grass, the water soaks through the leather. I live in the Pacific Northwest and rainy season is just starting. These won't do very well unless I try waterproofing them myself. The waterproof promise in the description was a big part of the reason I decided to pay so much for these. That's why they're not getting 5 stars, otherwise they're great.

Good boot but issues with service
I ordered these boots for next day delivery. The next day I got a message to say the driver could not find my house which is a farm so not easy to miss. They next day I waited at the bottom of my drive at the allotted hour so the driver couldn’t miss me, no van drove down my road and again I was told they could not find my house. I complained to the delivery company Hermes and they told me they couldn’t help me a d to get in contact with the seller. The seller told me they couldn’t help me and it wasn’t their problem! The next day after numerous complaints the boots were delivered and they are great but someone needs to sort out the delivery issues and companies shld nt pass the buck all the time and not care
