Looks pretty decent, but poor build quality

I bought this lamp specifically to put a fairly large CFL bulb in; for that, it works quite well. This looks like the type of lamp that you might find at a certain Scandinavian chain, but it's more expensive and of poorer quality. It's quite flimsy; several of the wooden pieces are a bit warped, and it's not all that stable. (I was expecting it to have more heft and stability, since it was listed as 20lbs when I purchased it. The shipping weight is now listed as 9.1lbs at least... Actual weight is about 5lbs after assembly.) Assembly is fairly straightforward. However, the little plastic ring that holds the shade down arrived broken; the lamp worked, but the shade looked all crumpled. The manufacturer didn't reply to my email, so I ended up having to have the entire thing replaced by Amazon. (I was hoping the manufacturer would just send me that tiny part and save everyone time, money, and fuel.) The build quality is fairly poor in general. A few of the vertical wooden rods are very slightly warped, but it assembled fine, and overall the thing looks pretty decent unless you inspect it up close. Their method of getting the cord to the side of the lamp and to the ground is to give you three zip-ties to hold it in place... I opted for a replacement primarily because I'd been having trouble finding a floor lamp to fit myALZO 85 watt full-spectrum CFL , which is 10.5" long. (Do note that the description on this lamp says "150 watts max" but the instructions state a 40-something watt maximum CFL. However, I suspect they do this for lighting equivalency; there's no safety issue electrically, and neither the socket nor the base of the bulb gets more than somewhat warm. The only hot areas are just to the sides of the bulb, and above the open top of the lamp, where they should be! The shade barely gets warm. A 150 watt incandescent bulb would generate much more heat anyways!) So between the well-sized shade and the open top to ventilate heat from my massive bulb, and looking decent even if somewhat flimsy, I'm reasonably satisfied with this lamp. If I was just putting a more standard lower-wattage bulb in it, though, the first one probably would've just gone back after arriving broken.

Great Lamps!

These are great lamps! We like the style of the square versions but had limited space behind a chair to put one. These round ones were a perfect alternative. Much better built than the knock-off Target versions. They went together so easy I had both assembled and working in under 15 minutes. We also purchased 2 Westek 6089B Full Range Dimmers so we could set the brightness of these for any occasion (as a note, one of the Westek dimmers only lasted 33 days.) I don't thihnk we could have done better for the price and style.

Overpriced Low Quality

I found this lamp on a different site for nearly 2x the price so I was thrilled to find it for $87 here on Amazon. When I received the product box it clearly had been opened before and re-taped to sell. I was disappointed to see that the wooded shelves are very CHEAP looking MDF and the lamp once assembled is not sturdy at all. I didn't have any issues with the lamp shade being wrinkled. The style of the lamp is great so if this were only $30 or $40 or solid wood...okay but unless you really LOVE this look it is not worth the money.

Excellent lamp for decoration or organizing.

I was looking for ways to organize and save space. This is an excellent piece for people who actually have nice things to display in an open room, or for someone like me, who put it in a corner and uses it to hold things like the telephone, an organizer and a small bin. I'm 5'6 and it's a little bit taller than me. Put it together myself easily. Not very heavy, but seems sturdy. I would recommend this.

Good value for the cost

The lamp isn't wobbly and the unit is easy to assemble (took me 20 minutes). I've received some compliments on it. My purpose is I'm a 25 year old in a small NYC apartment. Not the nicest piece of "furniture," but is a handsome lamp, doesn't look cheap, and adds something to my budget decor.

This looks very nice in my living room. I keep it between the end of my couch and the window and put some fun things on the shelves.
